Lynne and Brandi taught in the public school setting for a combined 19 years. They've seen students through evaluations, IEPs, FBAs, BIPs, and transitional services. Through it all they fought tooth and nail to get their students the best education possible. They now bring this passion and knowledge of the public school system to the behavioral world and provide support and insight to parents with children in public school settings. Additionally, they both have a thorough knowledge of academic concepts, curriculum, and teaching approaches for kids PreK - 8th grade that allow them to teach their clients the skills necessary to be successful in school.
Lynne and Brandi both started from the ground up back in 2014. While BCBA students at the University of Washington, they were employed as Behavior Technicians. They put in their time taking direction from supervisory staff in order to work with some of the most difficult clients their company had. Over time they were both trained in program development and management and eventually hired on as BCBAs where, over the course of 4 years they were given increased responsibilities in managing student programs, interfacing with client families, and developing systems in order to eventually run their own private practice.
Pathfinder is committed to looking at the big picture with our clients. We consider where they will be in 3...5...10 years from now and begin integrating skills into their training that will benefit them in the long run. Because of this, we have designed our programs to be fluid. A client who joins us at 2 years old can graduate through the play skills group to the pre-k group, followed by joining a social skills group, receiving individual instruction and eventually learn independent living skills to transition into adulthood. From point A to point B on the path of life, we're with you for the entire journey.
In our professional careers we've seen the impact a child with Autism can have on a family. While a client can receive intensive therapy 30+ hours a week, this therapy means very little if it doesn't make a positive impact at home. We also recognize the stress and confusion families often experience right after diagnosis, while navigating special education in the public school, and when deciding on a final transition plan for their child. Because of this our programs are designed to keep parents involved along the way. We encourage parent participation, provide feedback on interventions that can be run at home, and speak with outside providers on the parents' behalf in order to ensure their child has the best support in all their activities during the week. Additionally, we believe its important to take time each week with our parents to provide training as well as an outlet for them to connect and ask questions at our parent support groups.
