Applied Behavioral Analysis is the science of applying experimentally based principles to improve behavior. These behaviors are defined in observable and measurable terms, with data-driven methods being utilized to demonstrate accountability. Our data collection gives us the evidence to determine the best therapy for your child. It helps us monitor progress and definitively identify areas in need of further development.
At Pathfinder, our therapy uses the principles of reinforcement, shaping, prompting, fading, and motivation to affect positive behavioral change. Methodologies used include, but are not limited to:
By using these and other research-based methods, we are able to develop a variety of functional communication skills, self-help skills, and leisure skills that can be taught most effectively and utilized in your child’s natural environment.
Through 1:1 services, your child can find a path to functional communication, cognitive skills, and improved social interactions. Learning is broken down into smaller, more manageable tasks with multiple opportunities for practice and generalization. During these 1:1 sessions we target skills deemed most important for your child from standardized assessments, parent preference, and collaboration with outside therapies (such as speech and OT). We take the time to look at your child’s motivations and use them during our sessions to make learning as exciting and engaging as possible!
